Coki? Who's Coki

People ask, why cokinbiscuits for Jovann's blog. Actually this blog was meant for coki, then I got pregnant, gave birth to Jovann and still didn't write anything about him. Well, I must have something about coki.
Coki loves his biscuits. He can do anything for biscuits. His favourite toy... anything stuff toy, especially monkey. So can imagine how exciting he was when jovann had his first stuffed toy car. Somehow, he can recognise any soft, fluffy toy from far. Give him a ball or some rubber toy, it will be left in a corner within 5 minutes.
Coki was very sensitive to my pregnancy. He was extremely attached to me when I was pregnant and somehow more gentle when playing with me. He followed me around the house... literally followed me into the bathroom and sit down beside me when I did my business. He would sit patiently outside the bathroom when I shower.
Many people had asked if I was going to give coki away since I was pregnant, or once the baby is born, would he be given away or who is going to look after coki. I was generally surprised with the questions. Coki is of course staying with us. Where should he be going anyway? He's also our son, you know? Then all the comments on, bad for the baby when inside my tummy, bad for baby when he is born, what happen if he is allergic? Worse... so when will you let coki back in the wild? What wild!!?? And I was wondering why so many cases of abandon dogs. In Asian context, remove anything that might be bad for the baby. I was tempted to educate them further but I guess they just do not understand the meaning by, you will never give up your "child" no matter what difficulties a "parent" should face.
Having a dog is for life. We can have many things and people in our lifes, but we are all coki has and if we give him up, nobody will love him more than we do.
It was an adventure for coki too when jovann first arrived. He was curious and wanted to check jovann out. Coki is not the barking type, so when jovann cried, he just ran to his side, look at him and looked out for us to see if we were going to attend to him. He tried to sniff and lick him, but we prevented any contact... at least for the first year. He could only check jovann out about 1 foot away.
My mum was quite against having the baby and the dog staying together because of coki's fur. There will always be fur on the floor and when jovann is old enough to crawl, he will lick the floor... the fur and all. Oh well, my mum loves coki too, but she finds it difficult to keep the house clean enough for the baby. She didn't really had the choice because we had the last say on how jovann should be brought up.
Coki is still jealous and fighting for our attention. When jovann cries and we attend to him, coki would also come to us and brush himself against us, licks our feet or asks for biscuits. What's more, we totally spoilt him from the start, so he will always wait for me to hand feed him or he will not eat. And I always gave the excuse... he broke his leg and went through an operation when he was a puppy. We felt so pain to see him suffer, but he recovered well. We will do anything the make him feel better.
He is actually ok with having jovann around. We can tell that he loves jovann too as he continue to look out for jovann when he cries and still trying to lick him. Jovann would stare at coki as he walks past. I'm sure we will see more of their adventures together when jovann gets older. Maybe we need to prevent jovann from bullying coki? hehe.
